1 Minute Update: Back to School

Dear Friends,

Our students are so happy to be back to school! In Kenya the new school year begins in January, so with many more safety precautions our classes are back in full swing – with a little catching up to do after many classes were not in session during most of 2020. The campus is filled with joy and happiness, and much activity.

It can be difficult with so many students to be as socially distanced as we’d like, but the students are wearing masks and washing their hands as much as possible. All our staff and students are staying healthy.

Along with teaching our amazing students, our staff has also been busy building more desks, repairing bunks for the dorms and stocking up on maize and beans.

We couldn’t have gotten through this past year without all your prayers and support. We are truly thankful for all of you. As the pandemic continues we will carry on providing a safe and loving school and home to these future leaders. Please continue to keep the students and staff in your thoughts and prayers.

1 Minute Update: Meet Faith, 8th Grade Student

Dear Friends,

We’d like to introduce you to Faith, one of our 8th grade students at Daylight School.

Faith is from Lelan, where she lives with her mother, father and three brothers.  She stays in the dormitory at Daylight during the school year. Thanks to your ongoing support Faith, and students like her, are moving on to High School soon.

Faith wants to be a nurse some day and plans to study hard for her education. She wants to help society and help sick people recover from their illness, and also would use some of the money she earns to help her family and to pay school fees for her brothers.

During her free time she likes reading storybooks and the Bible, visiting with her grandparents and spending time with her friends.

Faith’s favorite thing about Daylight School are the teachers.  Faith says, “Our teachers are hard working and good – they love children and they love protecting us and they give us a good education.”

We are so proud of Faith!

If you are interested in learning more about our students you can become a Grade Level Partner by giving to the Daylight Classroom Fund with a monthly contribution of $30.  Your dollars provide one student’s educational supplies, books, school uniforms, breakfast, and lunch for a whole month! You can select a grade (4th, 5th, 6th or 7th) and receive three updates each year and letters from students in the class, and also write letters to the class, providing your personal encouragement and moral support to the students!  If you are interested in becoming a Grade Level Partner you can click at this link for more information: https://daylightcenter.org/classroom/

Thanks to all our supporters for making the dream of an education a reality for so many amazing students and future leaders! Please continue to keep the students and staff in your thoughts and prayers.
