Hand Cranked Well Water

Daylight relies on several forms of water. During the rainy season (April – September) tanks fill with rain water collected from the roofs. They supply more than enough water.

During the dry season (October – March) Daylight relies water delivery by trucks to fill those tanks. This is a video of the tank by the Boys Elementary Dorm being filled up.

The other main source of clean safe water if from the well. Water is hand cranked by students at a number of wells around the campus. This well is near the kitchen.

Thank you for making it possible for our students to drink safe clean water.

NOTE: Last year an electronic pump was installed at Daylight but the Kenyan Electric Company has not maintained a consistent power supply to the city making it difficult to rely on the electric pump.
